Can Foreigners and Overseas Chinese Do IVF in China

Yes. Foreign passport holders and overseas Chinese can receive IVF treatment at public 3A hospitals in mainland China, provided they meet the receiving hospital’s medical and document requirements.

Basic eligibility

  • Married couples: assisted reproduction in China is available to married couples only. Hospitals normally require both spouses to attend and verify documents in person.
  • This pathway does not offer IVF arrangements for single applicants or same-sex couples. General information enquiries are welcome; confirm eligibility before paying or booking travel.

Documents to prepare

  • Passports of both spouses (or other identity documents the hospital accepts)
  • Proof of marriage: certificates issued abroad usually need a translation; some hospitals require notarization or authentication (apostille or consular). Requirements vary by hospital — confirm in advance.
  • Previous medical records and test reports (copies or digital versions are fine for initial assessment)

Basis: National Health Commission document-check requirements for assisted-reproduction institutions.

How hospitals verify

Eligibility is confirmed by the receiving hospital, normally by checking original documents at the first visit. Before you travel, we help confirm that hospital’s exact requirements for foreign documents (translation, notarization, authentication) so your visit is not delayed by paperwork.

FAQ

My marriage was registered abroad — is that accepted?

Usually yes, with a translation prepared to the hospital’s standard; some hospitals also require notarization or authentication. Standards vary — confirm before travelling.

Can one spouse travel first?

Document verification and informed consent normally require both spouses present. The receiving hospital’s rules apply.

How soon after enquiring is eligibility confirmed?

After we organize your documents and history, we confirm acceptance with the hospital; it is clear once the hospital replies. Submitting an enquiry is not a booking or a guarantee of treatment.
